In 2010, I established a consulting practice, of which David McGath Freelance Writer and Editor is a component. Since then, I have worked with a range of clients. They include Electric Mobility Canada, Waterpower Canada, and I am currently the Chief Consultant for the Energy Council of Canada. My services included writing, editing, and government relations advice. While carrying on my consulting practice I was Vice-chairman of the local Habitat for Humanity affiliate and served for 18 months as interim CEO. At that time, I was also a member of the government relations committee of the central organization, Habitat Canada.

In addition to carrying out economic, financial, and policy analysis throughout the years, I have spent a large part of my career writing and editing technical and advocacy documents. I have written briefing notes for senior officials, speeches for Ministers, as well as articles for industry journals and industry submissions to government. As a matter of personal interest, I have published articles in Canada and the UK on social issues, history, and sports.
